HourSlip Pro and your license key

Pro is a single $29 purchase. There's no subscription and no account. You get a license key by email, paste it into HourSlip, and that computer is unlocked.

The timer, timesheet, invoices, templates and backups work the same in both. Your data stays on your computer either way.

Buy and activate

Buy Pro from the pricing section or from any Upgrade button in the app. Checkout is handled by polar.sh, and the key arrives in the purchase email.
Open the upgrade sheet. On a Mac that's Settings › General › Enter License Key…. On Windows and Linux it's Settings › License › Upgrade or Enter License Key….
Paste the key into the field and press Activate.

Activation needs an internet connection, since HourSlip checks the key with polar.sh. Once it's done, the sidebar says Pro under the app name and Settings shows who the key is licensed to.

Lost the email? Your polar.sh customer portal has the key. Settings has a Manage on polar.sh button that opens it.

Move the key to another computer

One key works on one computer at a time, and it doesn't matter whether that's a Mac, a Windows PC or a Linux machine. To move it:

On the old computer, open Settings › General on a Mac and choose Disconnect from This Mac…, or open Settings › License on Windows and Linux and choose Disconnect from This Computer…. Confirm with Disconnect.
On the new computer, enter the key as above.

Disconnecting sends that computer back to the free version and leaves your data exactly as it was. It also needs to be online, because HourSlip waits for polar.sh to confirm before it lets go of the key. If it can't get through, you can try again or remove the key anyway and free the seat later from the portal.

If the old computer is gone, broken or wiped, skip step one and free its seat in the customer portal.

Working offline

HourSlip rechecks the key with polar.sh every few days. If you're offline when a check is due, nothing changes and Pro stays on. Only a clear answer from polar.sh, such as a revoked or unknown key, turns Pro off, and Settings then says why.

The check sends the key, your computer's name, and the app and system versions. It never sends clients, entries or invoices.

If activation fails

Already connected to another computer	Disconnect it there, or free the seat in the customer portal, then try again.
Couldn't reach polar.sh	Check your connection. A network filter or VPN can block the request.
Revoked or disabled	If that's a surprise, write to gorgekara@gmail.com.
